The Job Knob - Magnetic Tool for Acetylene Tanks

Product Description

The Job Knob - MADE IN USA!

Acetylene tanks are exchanged over the counter at supply houses across the country on a daily basis. Many of these tanks do not come with a mechanism on the valve to open them, only a metal shank. Currently technicians use any tool handy to open the tank, from channel locks and pliers to wrenches.

The Job Knob offers the user the ability to open and close the valve with ease without jeopardizing the integrity of the shank. The Job Knob also magnetically stays with the tank in use until the time of exchange; where it can be easily slid onto the new tank valve until the next exchange.

Always have a tool to open your tank, and most importantly it will be right were you left it...on the tank!

  1. Knob too small

Posted by Bob on 16th Mar 2015

You should improve it and send a new one out to everyone that purchased it with the proper size knob, I used it 2x today, break it with a wrench, put the knob on to turn it more, turn it back off with the knob and put a wrench on it to tighten it so the gas does not leak out, kind of a useless product considering it will not do the job on its own.

  2. Too small to seat valve closed

Maybe it is just the first tank I tried it on, but I had to use the wrench to open it, and closing it with the knob it leaks by, maybe it is just this tank? A bigger handle would make it close the valve better.

  3. Great idea that could use improvement

Like the other reviewer, the product does it's job but the form of the knob is hard on the hands and the bottle is difficult to open if the valve is closed off tightly, A slightly larger knob and and a rubberized coating would help. As an added tip I wanted to make sure the knob didn't get lost so I used aircraft cable to secure the knob by drilling a hole through the knob face and threading the cable through the hole to use it as a tether and securing the other cable end to my torch tote. all in all it works great.
